FBISE and LUMS Partner to Launch Pakistan Mathematics Olympiad

The Federal Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (FBISE) has teamed up with the Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS) to establish the Pakistan Mathematics Olympiad (PMO), a new initiative aimed at promoting mathematical excellence among students nationwide.

As part of this collaboration, LUMS has developed a specialized syllabus for the PMO, designed to guide students in their preparation. A model question paper has also been provided to offer insights into the competition’s format and difficulty, ensuring students are well-prepared.

The PMO is open to students from various educational backgrounds, including those enrolled in Secondary School Certificate (SSC) or O Level, Higher Secondary School Certificate (HSSC) or A Level, and equivalent qualifications. This inclusive approach allows students from across Pakistan to participate and showcase their mathematical talents on a national stage.

To reward excellence, the PMO will offer a range of prestigious prizes, including cash awards, medals, laptops, and scholarships for admission to leading Pakistani universities. These incentives aim to inspire students to excel in mathematics and cultivate a culture of academic achievement and innovation.

Registration for the Pakistan Mathematics Olympiad will begin in mid-September 2024 and will be conducted exclusively through the FBISE website. Students are encouraged to register early to seize this opportunity to compete at a high level and gain national recognition for their mathematical skills.

For more details on the registration process and competition specifics, interested students can visit the official FBISE website.
