Lahore Board Receives Thousands of Recheck Requests Amid High Failure Rates

Following a notably high failure rate in the Class 9 exams, the Lahore Board has been inundated with recheck requests from students. The board has received several thousand online applications seeking re-evaluation of their exam papers.

Exam Results Overview

This year, 150,000 candidates under the Lahore Board failed their Class 9 exams. The History of Pakistan paper recorded the highest failure rate, with only 12.5% of students passing. In contrast, pass rates for other subjects were as follows:

• Islamic History: 45%
• General Math: 58%
• General Science: 60%
• Chemistry: 62%
• Mathematics: 63%
• Civics: 66%
• Physics: 69%

Recheck Application Details

Students who wish to request a recheck must do so by August 24. The recheck fee is set at Rs. 1400, which should be deposited in a designated bank. Following payment, students need to upload their application online. The Lahore Board will notify candidates of the rechecking process through SMS.

Results and Participation

The Lahore Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education officially released the Class 9 exam results yesterday. Out of 287,000 candidates who participated, over 127,000 students passed the exams, while 159,000 did not clear them. This year’s results highlight a challenging examination period for many students.

Zahid Mian, the Lahore Board’s Controller of Examinations, acknowledged the difficulties faced by students and emphasized the importance of the recheck process in ensuring fair evaluation.
