Privacy Breach: Intermediate Students' Personal Information Leaked by Boards Across Pakistan

A serious privacy breach has emerged following the recent announcements by Intermediate Boards across Pakistan. In a disturbing lapse, these Boards have not only published the names of top-performing students but also their home addresses and mobile numbers, with a particular focus on female students.

This oversight has raised significant concerns about the safety and privacy of these young individuals, who are now exposed to potential risks such as harassment and scams. The release of such sensitive information is especially alarming in a country where privacy and social norms are closely intertwined.

The disclosure of personal details has ignited a widespread outcry over the Boards' handling of student data. The exposure of female students' addresses and phone numbers could lead to unwanted attention and harassment, severely impacting their safety and well-being.

In addition to this troubling issue, the Karachi Board's recent handling of matric exam results has also drawn criticism. The Board's unexpected release of results on Monday led to confusion and frustration among students, as discrepancies in the marks displayed on the Board's website caused significant distress. Some students experienced dramatic changes in their scores, with one seeing their score drop from 715 to zero upon rechecking, while another, initially awarded 700 marks, was marked as failed. These results, which were originally scheduled for release in July, were delayed until August 30 following an order from the Department of Boards and Universities.

The mishandling of both student data and exam results highlights urgent issues regarding the management and protection of student information and the need for improved protocols to ensure the safety and accuracy of academic records.
