Punjab Revises Textbook Curriculum for Academic Year 2026–27
The Punjab government has decided to revise the curriculum of school textbooks for the academic year 2026–27, according to an official announcement issued by the Punjab Curriculum and Textbook Board (PCTB). The decision is part of ongoing efforts to align education with modern academic and technological requirements.
PCTB clarified that the majority of school textbooks will remain unchanged for the upcoming academic year. However, revisions will be made to the textbooks of Class 9, specifically in the subjects of Computer Science and Entrepreneurship. These changes aim to improve content relevance while keeping student workload in balance.
According to the board, an updated and reviewed Computer Science syllabus for Grade 9 will be printed with revised content. In addition, the number of pages in the Computer Science and Entrepreneurship (Tech) Grade 9 textbooks will be reduced to ensure concise and focused learning material.
In this regard, PCTB has issued formal instructions to update printing orders for the revised textbooks. Educational institutions across Punjab have also been directed to ensure the immediate implementation of these curriculum changes once the new textbooks are issued.
Officials stated that the primary objective of the revisions is to promote modern knowledge, encourage creative thinking, and develop an educational framework aligned with contemporary needs. The revised curriculum is expected to better prepare students for future academic and technological challenges.
Education experts and academic circles have welcomed the move, describing it as a positive and necessary step. They emphasized that periodic curriculum updates are essential for maintaining educational quality and relevance. Many have expressed hope that the revised syllabus will contribute to improved teaching standards and better learning outcomes across schools in Punjab.
