Punjab Education Department Orders Digitisation After Student Record Discrepancies
The Punjab Education Department has identified serious discrepancies in student records across public schools, affecting nearly 1.7 million students. The issue mainly involves missing or incorrect B-Form numbers, raising concerns about data accuracy and transparency in the education system.
In response, the department has taken immediate action by ordering the complete digitisation of student data. Schools have been directed to update accurate B-Form numbers in the official School Information System to ensure reliable record-keeping and better tracking of student information.
Officials highlighted that the introduction of a Unique Student ID system will now be accelerated. This step is aimed at improving efficiency, reducing duplication, and creating a more transparent education database. With a centralized digital system, authorities will be able to monitor enrollment, attendance, and academic progress more effectively.
To implement these changes, District Education Authorities have been instructed to take urgent corrective measures. School heads are now responsible for verifying each student’s B-Form before entering data into the system. This verification process is critical to avoid future discrepancies and ensure that all records are authentic and complete.
The department has also addressed the issue of students who currently do not have B-Forms. Schools have been ordered to complete their records and facilitate the registration process where needed. A strict deadline of April 30, 2026, has been set to finalize all corrections and updates.
This initiative reflects a broader effort to modernize Pakistan’s education system through digital transformation. Accurate student data not only improves administrative efficiency but also helps in better policy planning, resource allocation, and delivery of educational services.
By ensuring proper documentation and digitisation, the Punjab Education Department aims to build a more transparent and accountable system that benefits both students and institutions in the long run.
