PCB Revises Tri-Nation T20I Series Schedule | All Matches Moved to Rawalpindi
The Pakistan Cricket Board has announced an updated schedule for the upcoming tri-nation T20I series featuring Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and Zimbabwe. The new plan confirms that all seven matches, including the final, will now take place at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium. This decision replaces the earlier arrangement that included multiple matches scheduled in Lahore.
The tri-series is considered an important preparation phase for the teams ahead of the T20 World Cup that will be jointly hosted by India and Sri Lanka next year. By shifting all matches to a single venue, the PCB aims to streamline logistics, ensure better crowd management, and maintain consistent security arrangements.
The series will begin on November 18 with the opening match between Pakistan and Zimbabwe. Each team will play four matches in the round stage. The top two teams will qualify for the final, which is scheduled for November 29. Cricket fans in Rawalpindi are expecting a packed stadium as this series offers a chance to see three international sides compete closely before a major world event.
The schedule revision was announced shortly after PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi confirmed changes in the ODI series between Pakistan and Sri Lanka as well. The remaining ODIs of that series will now be held on November 14 and 16 in Rawalpindi. This adjustment followed concerns raised after a tragic suicide bombing incident in Islamabad that resulted in casualties and heightened security considerations.
Despite the situation, Sri Lanka Cricket reaffirmed its commitment to continue the tour. The board shared that a few players expressed concerns and requested to return home, but officials assured them that all necessary safety measures were being implemented with the support of PCB and local authorities. In case any player still wishes to leave, Sri Lanka Cricket will replace them after a formal review of their decision.
Pakistan’s government and officials expressed deep gratitude to the Sri Lankan team for continuing the tour. Information Minister Attaullah Tarar and Defence Minister Khawaja Asif acknowledged Sri Lanka’s sportsmanship and thanked them for standing with Pakistan during a challenging time.
With the updated schedule, cricket fans now have a clear timetable for the tri-nation series.
