BEIJING — The Belt and Road Ambassador Scholarship Award Ceremony took place in Beijing this week, marking a significant milestone for educational cooperation between China and its global partners. The event, held on Thursday, celebrated the academic excellence of students from Pakistan and several other nations participating in the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI).
As reported by China Economic Net (CEN), the ceremony focused on more than just grades. It highlighted the power of educational exchange in building stronger, “people-to-people” ties between nations.
Pakistan’s Ambassador to China, Khalil Hashmi, was a key speaker at the event. He shared his appreciation for the Overseas Chinese Charity Foundation of China, the group behind the scholarship program. Ambassador Hashmi pointed out that these scholarships are a game-changer for students from BRI partner countries, giving them the chance to study abroad, gain global experience, and sharpen the skills they need to lead in the future.
Addressing the award winners—who hailed from countries including Pakistan and Malaysia—the Ambassador praised their hard work and dedication. He noted that their success is a clear sign of the immense potential held by the youth across the entire region.
By investing in these students, the program aims to create a new generation of professionals who are not only highly skilled but also deeply connected to the cultural and economic goals of the Belt and Road Initiative.
