Punjab University has released its official holiday schedule for Eid ul Fitr 2026 and the Spring Recess, detailing closures for academic units and clarifying the resumption of administrative operations. The announcement aims to help students, faculty, and staff plan their academic and personal schedules during the festive and seasonal break.
According to a notification from the Registrar’s Office, the university will remain fully closed from Friday, March 20, to Monday, March 23, 2026, in observance of Eid ul Fitr. The closure will encompass all teaching and administrative departments, offices, institutes, centers, constituent colleges, and affiliated schools. During this period, classes and routine academic activities will be suspended, allowing students and staff to celebrate the festival with their families.
Immediately following the Eid holidays, Punjab University will observe its spring break from Tuesday, March 24 to Friday, March 27, 2026. This recess applies to all teaching departments, institutes, centers, constituent colleges, and schools, during which academic activities will remain on hold. Classes and other academic functions are scheduled to resume on Monday, March 30, 2026.
The notification also clarifies operational arrangements for administrative staff. While academic units will remain closed during spring recess, administrative offices will reopen from March 24. This measure ensures that essential office work, academic arrangements, and institutional functions continue uninterrupted during the break. The distinction allows the university to maintain operational efficiency while giving students and faculty a well-deserved pause.
The holiday schedule was issued under the signature of Registrar Dr. Ahmed Islam and circulated among university leadership and relevant offices for strict implementation. University officials have urged students, faculty, and staff to plan their routines, travel, and academic responsibilities in accordance with the announced dates.
In addition to academic planning, the university’s notification emphasizes that all departments should adhere to the schedule, ensuring a smooth transition before and after the break. Faculty members are encouraged to adjust lectures, assignments, and assessments as required to accommodate the temporary suspension of classes.
Punjab University, one of the country’s largest and oldest educational institutions, continues to prioritize transparency and clarity in its academic and administrative communications. By announcing the Eid and spring recess schedule well in advance, the university enables students and staff to make informed decisions regarding travel, study plans, and departmental arrangements.
With the festival break followed immediately by the spring recess, the university community can enjoy an extended period of rest while administrative operations remain active to support essential functions. All academic activities, including classes, labs, and scheduled assessments, are expected to resume promptly on March 30, 2026, ensuring minimal disruption to the academic calendar.
Students and staff are advised to remain updated on any further announcements from the Registrar’s Office regarding adjustments or additional instructions related to the holiday schedule.
