Sindh Police Allegedly Tortures School Headmaster to Death
A primary school headmaster from Shahdadpur in district Sanghar has died after what his family says was severe police torture. The incident has created shock in the community and pushed senior officials to open an urgent inquiry.
The family says the headmaster was taken into custody on Monday evening. According to them, he was beaten during detention and never recovered from the injuries. His relatives reported that he was in healthy condition before the arrest and believe the treatment he received in custody caused his death.
After the news spread, the Deputy Inspector General stepped in and ordered immediate action. Four police officials have been suspended, including the Station House Officer. The head clerk has also been detained for further questioning.
Officials say a formal investigation is underway. The inquiry will look into what happened inside the police station, who was involved, and whether standard procedures were followed. The goal is to identify everyone responsible for the alleged custodial violence.
Local residents have condemned the incident and are demanding transparency and accountability. The case has once again raised concerns about custodial abuse and the need for stricter oversight on police conduct across Sindh.
