Saturday Holiday Announced for Special Education Institutions in Punjab

The Punjab Department of Special Education has officially announced that all special education institutions across the province will now observe Saturday as a weekly holiday. This new decision means that schools and training centers for persons with disabilities will remain closed on both Saturday and Sunday every week.

According to the department’s official notification, the policy applies to all government special education schools, rehabilitation centers, and training institutes operating under the Special Education Department in Punjab. Copies of the notification have already been sent to all District Education Officers and Chief Executive Officers to ensure quick and complete implementation of the new schedule.

Officials stated that the decision was made to provide relief and convenience to both students and staff members. The move aims to give teachers and students additional rest, better preparation time, and a balanced workweek. The new policy will come into effect from next week, and institutions will now follow a five-day operational routine instead of six.

Previously, classes in special education institutions were held from Monday to Saturday, with only Sunday as a day off. With the new change, staff and students will enjoy two consecutive holidays, helping improve overall productivity, mental well-being, and motivation.
