KP Imposes Ban on Teacher Postings and Transfers Across the Province
Teachers in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have received disappointing news as the provincial government has imposed a complete ban on all postings and transfers in the Elementary and Secondary Education Department.
The decision was made during a high-level review meeting led by the Chief Minister. Officials said the aim is to bring stability, improve transparency and reduce irregular movements of teachers during the academic year.
According to the notification issued by the Secretary of Elementary and Secondary Education, the restriction applies to all categories of teaching staff. Even so, a few exceptions remain. The ban will not affect appointments through the KP Public Service Commission, promotions approved by the Provincial Selection Board or Departmental Promotion Committee, transfers ordered by courts, and teachers who are currently without postings.
The department also confirmed that a new E-Posting and Transfer Policy is on the way. As part of this shift, an online portal will be introduced to manage future transfers in a structured way. All movements will take place only during summer and winter vacations once the digital system becomes active.
The move marks a major change in how the province handles transfers and is expected to reduce disruptions in classrooms while creating a more organized transfer process for teachers across KP.
